A recent study by Stephanie Filbay and colleagues from Melbourne, reported in the April issue of Journal of Physiotherapy, has shown the importance of returning to exercise for people who have had an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.  The researchers identified that people who find a way of returning to some form of exercise report better quality of life than those who do not exercise.

This shows the importance of not only having a good physiotherapist to ensure the best rehabilitation of the knee, but also in having a physiotherapist that understands the patient and their lifestyle.  Your physiotherapist can play a vital role in helping you to return to competitive sport and/or help guide you to identify a suitable form of exercise based on your clinical status after rehabilitation.
